This project began as
a 30,000 sq. foot box
retail outlet for Sears
Homelife furniture. The
new building facade is
framed with structural
steel and light gauge
framing and overlain with
a swooping multi-color
EIFS system and a new
wave shaped canopy. The
theme of the facade was
founded on curves. We
used cad analysis, hand
drawings, mathematics
and eventually full size
layout of the arcs in
the parking lot to resolve
the geometry. Several
of the arcs in the EIFS
were plotted on a grid
pattern and freehand routed
into the facade as they
followed arcs which decreased
or increased in radius
and were impossible to
layout using conventional
methods.
